Lincoln Financial GUL Products
Lincoln Financial offers life insurance shoppers lifetime coverage with their guaranteed universal life insurance product called: LifeGuarantee UL
Guaranteed Universal Life (GUL) is a type of universal life insurance- but doesn’t have the market risks of UL.
Your premiums remain the same with GUL just like term life. With a GUL, you get coverage with a “no-lapse” guarantee. This means that if you pay your insurance premiums, you’ll always be covered. GUL is not made for cash value and it resembles and functions similarly to term life insurance. Term life insurance only covers you for a set number of years. GUL covers you to a specific age such as: Age 90, 95, 100, 110, or 121.

Advantages
- Lincoln Financial Benefits
- Protection: Lincoln Financial has their Coverage Protection Guarantee (CPG) that is automatically included into your policy. This provides you with guaranteed life insurance protection. The CPG provides Coverage Protection Value so you won’t lose your policy if the cash surrender value in your policy is too little in order to cover your charges.
Disadvantages
- Weaknesses of Lincoln Financial
- One of Many: Lincoln Financial is just one of many life insurance companies in the market. They don’t offer every option and they aren’t always priced the best. Depending on your health and age- another carrier may give you a better deal.
- Cost: Lincoln Financial’s life insurance rates have a tendency to be higher than average.
Underwriting Information
Not all life insurance companies will look at you the same. Lincoln Financial and every other company has their own unique underwriting guidelines. Here are Lincoln Financial’s underwriting strengths and weaknesses:
Life insurance underwriting is the process of a company looking at the level of risk you present to the insurer. Once they can determine your risk level- they can decide the cost of the premium for you. This is similar to how a car insurance company will ask you if you have had any previous moving violations, accidents, DUI or license suspensions before providing you your final rate.

Strengths
These conditions typically get a better rating compared to the competition:
- Tobacco: If you use chewing tobacco, cigars, nicotine gum, pipes, nicotine patches, electronic cigarettes, you can still have a positive nicotine test result and receive a standard rate class. Just know that you have to admit to your tobacco use when you apply.
- Cholesterol: Lincoln is a great choice if you have cholesterol concerns. Preferred Plus is possible if you have a 5.5 HDL ratio as long as your total number is less than or equal to 230. Total cholesterol is acceptable to 275 if you are 70 and older.
- Seniors: If you are 70 or older, you will be given more leeway in underwriting. The requirements for blood pressure, cholesterol and build (height and weight ratio) will not be as strict compared with some other carriers..
- Diabetes: If you are 70 or older, you may qualify for Preferred rates if you have Type 2 Diabetes; DX in the past 3 years; A1C is 6.0 or lower; No neuropathy or retinopathy; Appropriate lips; Satisfactory cardiac results.
Weaknesses
- Lincoln has not shown any glaring underwriting weaknesses at this time.
